Clarence Oscar Barr, 78, of Brookville, died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at Clarion Hospital. Born March 18, 1930 in Coolspring, a son of the late Howard Reed and Florence (Miller) Barr. He was first married to the former Velma Geer, who preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Betty B. (Gelnette), on January 1, 1983, she survives. Mr. Barr worked as a truck driver, and was known by the cb radio handle “Lil Cob”. He drove truck for Clearfield Cheese Company and Brookville Wood Products. He was also a former Knox Township Supervisor, and a Knox Township Fireman. He was a very avid hunter and fisher. He once shot an elk in Idaho that was Boon & Crockett qualified. He also enjoyed western movies and old country music, such as Hank Williams. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mr. Gary (Bea) Barr of Brookville, Mr. Jerry (Mabel) Miller of Tionesta, Mr. Mark (Janice) Knapp of Brookville; four daughters, Mrs. Glenn (Vonnie) Shaffer of Brookville, Mrs. Denny (Crystal) Cochran of Brookville, Pam Whitecap and companion Bob Wadding of Dayton, and Mrs. Dean (Debbie) Park of Brookville; one sister, Eleanor Miner of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, parents and brother, John Barr; and sister Helen Joanne Barr. Friends will be received on Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 7-9 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., 153 Jefferson Street Brookville. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008, co-officiated by Pastor Mike Garvey and Pastor Jerry Miller. Interment will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, Knox Twp., Jefferson County. Memorial donations may be made to the Coolspring United Methodist Church, Knox Township Fire company, or Clarion Forest Hospice PO Box 668 Knox, PA 16232.
