Mary Ella Collins

Mary Ella Collins, age 84, passed away on Sunday, January 15th, 2017. She was born to the late Oral  and Althea (Cable) Hollopeter on October 24, 1932 in Westover, Pennsylvania.           

Mary Ella, as she was known to those close to her, grew up in Big Run, Pennsylvania and returned often after moving to St. Clair Shores, Michigan where she raised seven children with her husband Dwain Collins. Mary Ella was predeceased by her son Jeffrey Stiles and sister Barbara Tyler. She is survived by her husband Dwain, daughters Linda (David) Stroshein, Deborah (Jerry) Smith, Kathy Collins (Joseph Giglia), sons Richard (Phyllis) Stiles, Michael (Denise) Collins, Terry (Jessie) Collins, brother Mervin (Nancy) Hollopeter, and dear aunt, Jean Thompson, along with grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In her retirement, Mary Ella loved to visit her many grandchildren and great grandchildren in Michigan, Ohio and Florida, who brought her incredible joy and laughter.

Friends and family will be received at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. in Big Run on Sunday, January 22, 2016 from 6 - 8 p.m.  Visitation will also be held on Monday, January 23, 2016 from 9 - 11 a.m. at the St. Phillips United Methodist Church in Big Run followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Carol Bergman officiating.  

Mary Ella will be interred at the McClure Cemetery in Big Run.
