Mr. Peter "Lefty" Dubensky, Jr., 83 of Punxsutawney, passed away at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Mr. Dubensky was born on September 21, 1934 in Adrian to the late Peter and Anna (Kostichok) Dubensky, Sr. Peter married his wife of 60 years, Sandra Marie Shilala, on October 5, 1957. Sandra survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
Mr. Dubensky was a U.S. Army veteran and participated in the Berlin Crisis. Peter later retired as a machine setter for AirCo-Speer Carbon where he worked for over 29 years. He was lifetime member of the Byzantine Catholic Church and was a member of the Punxsy Country Club, the Elks and the Eagles. An avid sports fan, Peter particularly enjoyed golfing... a favorite past time of his. Peter was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly.
Mr. Dubensky is survived by his wife, Sandra; his two daughters, Tammi Ifert and husband Jim of Needmore, Pa., and Wendy Heberling and husband, Paul of Punxsutawney. He is also survived by his brothers, Harold Dubensky of Delancey, Tom Dubensky of Zelienople, and Desi Dubensky and wife, Joann of Sharpsville, Pa; four grandchildren, Eric Heberling and wife Lauren, Staci Heberling, Jay Ifert, and Evan Ifert; and two great-grandchildren, Peter and Ellie Ann.
In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Dubensky and a sister, Marie Kopas.
Friends will be received at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Punxsutawney on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 2 - 7 p.m., a Parastas Service will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. A Divine Liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Saint Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Punxsutawney.
Peter will be interred at the Saint Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
