Jean C. Fike

Jean C. Fike, 90, of Big Run, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at the Ligonier Gardens in Ligonier, PA. She was born on July 16, 1926, in LaJose, a daughter of the late Clair and Mina (Raymer) Curry.

On November 2, 1946 she married Harry Clair Fike.  He preceded her in death on September 7, 1999.

She was a member of St. Phillips United Methodist Church of Big Run.

Jean worked as a reading aide at the Big Run Elementary School for several years.  She enjoyed golfing and her many winter trips to Florida with her husband Harry.  Jean was one of the longest members of the Big Run Betas, and was also active in bowling leagues and card clubs.  Jean especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her children; Barry L. Fike and wife Brenda of Newark, OH; Pamela F. Stickle and husband Thomas of Ligonier; and Kevin D. Fike and wife Kimberly of DuBois; six grandchildren; Jennifer Beckley (Brian); Gretchen Simon (Justin); Stephanie McMaster (Mark); Kyle Fike (Samantha); Bryan Fike and Stephen Fike and six great-grandchildren; Herbie and Samuel Beckley; Ford and Brady Simon; and Lucy and Jack Fike.  Jean is also survived by her sister; Mabel McGarvey of Avenel, NJ; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Fike, one brother, Frank L. Curry, and two sisters, Audrey W. Daisher and Helen L. Phillips. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m.  on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc.,

Punxsutawney, and on Monday, June 12, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the St. Phillips United Methodist Church in Big Run.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 at the church officiated by Pastor Carole Bergman.  Interment will be at McClure Cemetery in Big Run.
