William Wendell Fryer, 80, of Punxsutawney passed away November 11, 2023, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1943 in Punxsutawney, son of the late William K and Dorothy M (James) Fryer.
On June 24, 1967, he married Sharon Jean (Smith) Fryer, who survives.
He served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne and was a machinist for Gasbarre Products Inc until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He especially loved traditional archery and spending time with his sons and grandsons in the woods. He loved nature and wildlife and in his later years, he enjoyed being outside as much as possible . He often spent most of his time sitting on the back porch or riding around on his lawn mower.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, William R Fryer and wife Deborah of Kaska, PA and one daughter, Leslie Ann Archibald and husband David of Punxsutawney. He is also survived by grandsons William A Fryer, Brandon M Fryer, Darren J Fryer, and a granddaughter, Madison M Ogden.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by a son, Justin James Fryer.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held for the family. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
