Wilbert "Web" Stamler Obituary

Wilbert “Web” Weiss Stamler, 93, of Punxsutawney, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Mahoning Riverside Manor.

He was born at home in Rossiter on February 15, 1932, a son of the late George Stamler and Edith (Weiss) Stamler.

On March 10, 1951, he married the love of his life, Donna Louise Leiphart.  They enjoyed the company of one another for seventy years prior to her death on June 01, 2021.  Web missed her dearly following her death.

“Web” was a master carpenter and belonged to the Union Carpenter Local 432.  Over the years of working experience, his skillful hands were part of many well-known places, such as St. Vincent’s College, St. Francis, Penn State University, the Kinzua Dam, the Emlenton Bridge, Brookville Hospital, just to name a few.

He was a self-educated man with a mind wired for problem-solving, the kind of person who could fix anything by studying the task and his own intuition.  He approached every challenge with quiet confidence and relentless curiosity to figure out the solution.  To those who knew him, he wasn’t just handy-he was a genius.

When he wasn’t working on something, he loved to ride his bicycle on the Mahoning Shadows Rails to Trails.  Riding his bike brought him tremendous joy and freedom of being outdoors in nature’s beauty.  He also enjoyed woodworking and black smithing and building anything someone needed.

His greatest love was for his wife and two daughters, Tressa (Paul) Trunzo of Brockway and Sally (Pat) Villella of Punxsutawney.

He is also survived two grandchildren, Chad (Wendy) Ramsey of Reynoldsville, Vincent (Molly Naaktgeboren) Villella; four great grandchildren, Robert Villella, Percy Naaktgeboren, Hannah and Gianna Tilton; two brothers, John (Mary) Stamler of Garfield Heights, Ohio and Keith (Joann) Stamler of Punxsutawney; brother in-law, Joe “Jo Jo” Carcella, sister in-laws Sandra Stamler of Rossiter and Dawn Harrell of Columbia, North Carolina.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, three brothers, Glen, George and James Stamler, one sister, Ruth Serian.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Terry Felt.

His ashes will be interred at Pearce Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorial donations may be made in Web’s memory to Mahoning Shadow Rails to Trails or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
