Wesley Snyder Obituary

Wesley Dennis Snyder, 70, of Punxsutawney, passed away due to Covid-19 on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born in Punxsutawney on August 20, 1950 a son of Bertha Mae (Anderson) Snyder of Punxsutawney and the late Paul Wesley Snyder.

On July 15, 1972, he married the former Helen Mae Vasbinder.  She survives and resides in the home they built together in Punxsutawney.  Married for over 48 years, they enjoyed each other’s company.

Dennis was a proud member of Local Union #354 Plumbers and Pipefitters for over forty years.  He was very dedicated and knowledgeable in his trade.

He was a decent, hardworking, loving, and patriotic man.  He loved to spend time with his grandkids.  He and Helen enjoyed traveling in their motor home and took the grandkids on a month-long trip out west, an adventure that none of them will forget.

He loved hunting, fishing and working on his camp.  He also enjoyed being a member of the Goldwing Road Rider Club. He and his wife spent many beautiful days on the motorcycle touring and camping with the members of the group.

In his younger days, you could see him working hard to build a good solid foundation for his family.  In his later years, he enjoyed the fruits of his labor.

In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two children, Martin Wesley (Valerie) Snyder of Punxsutawney and Melissa (Jason) Houck of Warsaw, Virginia; four grandchildren, Gabriel Loesel, Chelsey Snyder, Joselyn Snyder and Remington Houck; one sister, Melody (Jay) Hoover of Punxsutawney.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, brother Paul Snyder and sister Darlene Snyder.

A private family service will be held at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.   In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to your charity of choice.
