Wanda Lucille Neal

Wanda Lucille Neal, 76, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born in Punxsutawney on August 3, 1949, a daughter of the late William Lee Whitesell and Sally Lou (Hanley) Whitesell.

On April 27, 1968, she married Richard Allen Neal.  The enjoyed fifty-one years together prior to his death on January 25, 2019.

Wanda worked as a beautician at Millie Reitz Beauty Shop for many years.  She spent many years helping others feel confident, enjoyed talking with her customers and the conversations they shared.

At home, she was content and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs, Maize and Sophie. She also enjoyed shopping.

She is survived by one son, Jason (Stephanie) Neal of Punxsutawney; three grandchildren, Derek Conrad, Kiera Dorsey and Tyler Neal; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Whitesell of Johnstown and Bob Whitesell of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Patty Schrock of Rochester, New York and Judy Vanhorn of North Tonawanda, New York; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Richard; one brother, Bill Whitesell; and one sister, Sally Anderson.

Friends will be received from 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Guy Smith.
