Twila D. Drummond, 78, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 05, 2024, at Mulberry Square.
Born September 13, 1946, in Punxsutawney, she is the daughter of the late William B. and Minnie (Campbell) Drummond.
Twila graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School in 1964. After high school she became a licensed practical nurse and worked in the hospital setting. She then went to receive her bachelor’s degree from Anderson University and her master’s degree from Ball State University. Ms. Drummond was a health and physical education instructor in the Punxsutawney Area School District, and she retired in 2004.
Twila loved the trumpet. In her thirties she decided to take lessons at IUP and persuaded Dr. Calvin Weber to take her as a student. Her dedication and hard work gave her the opportunity to play in one of the university's orchestra concerts, making her dream come true.
She is survived by one brother, Harry (Sakina) Drummond.
Preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, James “Jim” Drummond and Wesley Drummond.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or viewing. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
