Travis Lynn Haenel, 49, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Penn Highlands Brookville as the result of a motorcycle accident.
He was born in Corry, PA, on December 19, 1971, a son of Bonnie Lou (Eastman) Haenel of Brookfield, Ohio, and the late Gary Lynn Haenel.
Mr. Haenel was a self-employed Lumber Grader. As part of his work, he enjoyed running equipment, particularly the log skidder.
He was a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles 1231 and Abate.
Travis endured significant losses in his young life, which made for difficult times. He was finally content and living a peaceful existence with his best friend and daily companion, Penny Conser. The two enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and taking road trips around the area.
His enjoyments were hunting, fishing, planting a garden, canning what he grew, making the best pickles, and cooking for everyone. Travis enjoyed camping with family, especially his nephews, Chris, Levi and Jon. He also enjoyed the company of his dog, Junior.
Travis was anxiously awaiting the birth of his grandson, Delton Travis Haenel in August.
In addition to his mother, Bonnie, his companion, Penny, he is survived by two sons, Korey Haenel of Buffalo, New York, and Kyle Haenel and girlfriend Jordan Adams of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Benjy Haenel and wife Tina, and Darin Williamson and wife Lane, all of Spartansburg.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gary, his maternal grandparents, Frank and Violet Eastman.
A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
