Theodore G. ”Diesel” Depp, 77, of Punxsutawney, passed away November 21, 2023 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born on March 16, 1946 in DuBois the son of the late Nobel W. Depp and Ruth Mae (Bowser) Depp. After graduating high school, Ted went on to serve in the United States Airforce.
Ted worked an a mechanic for B&O, Chessie Systems and CSX. He retired from there after 40 years of service.
Ted was a member of the Tri County Church of Punxsutawney. He was also a member of the Eagles, Punxsutawney Country Club and VFW Auxiliary. He also was one of the founding and former members of the Big Run Camp.
Ted was an avid golfer- he golfed with the same group of friends every morning at the country club. In his younger years Ted played baseball for the Big Run Brewers Baseball team. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Pens and Penn State and WV Wesleyan sprots teams.
He was a devoted father and grandfather and would always be there for his family. He loved to make the people around him laugh with his famous stories he would tell. Ted will be remembered by his famous saying “in the end guys, I did it my way.”
He is survived by his three children: Theodore A. Depp and his wife Stacy of Rossiter, Richard D. Depp and his wife Chelley of Beverly, WV and Deneen R. Bair and her husband Ron of Punxsutawney; a special son-in0law, Sam Cleveland of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren: Ashlee Bish, Bryan Buffington, Erika Yates, Justin Evans, Sydney Ninness and Liam Depp; 13 great grandchildren and a special friend Nancy Knarr.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca S. Cleveland and an infant daughter, Pamula Depp.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in his honor.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the VFW or Shriners Childrens Hospital.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Punxsutawney.
