Shirley Reed Obituary

Shirley R. Reed, 88, of Punxsutawney, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Mulberry Square.

She was born on December 1, 1933, in Punxsutawney the daughter of the late Clair “Jack” Fenstermaker and Lola (Keller) Fenstermaker.

On January 16, 1954, she married Charles Lee Reed, who survives.

Retired, Shirley worked for Rola Jensen for fifteen years.

She was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Ringgold Fire Co. Ladies Aid. Shirley volunteered her time by catering for weddings- she was an amazing cook.

In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband Charles. She loved spending time in warmer weather and would normally leave for Florida the day after Christmas.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of laughter and being the life of the party.

She is survived by her two daughters: Cheryl Lowmaster and her husband Doug “Mugsy” and Jacquelin “Toot” Powell and her husband Robert “Jerky” all of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren: Amber Brocious and her husband Brad, Anteisha Stahlman and her husband Scott, Jeb Powell, Tanner Lowmaster and his wife Amber and Brodi Lowmaster and 6 great grandchildren: Dannika and Jett Brocious, Parker and Nolan Stahlman, Walker and Wyatt Lowmaster; a sister, Irene Gampe of Shannondale.

She is preceded in death by her only son, Jack Irvin Reed.

At the wishes of the family all services are private. Burial will be in Coolspring Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held beginning at 1 p.m.  at “Toot and Jerky’s” on Sunday, July 23, 2022.  The family encourages everyone to come and spend the day swimming, visiting one another and enjoy a picnic in honor of Shirley.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Ringgold Fire Company or Ringgold United Methodist Church.
