Sandra Hoch Obituary

Sandra Lee Hoch, 79, of Ringgold, peacefully went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born in Punxsutawney on December 31, 1945, a daughter of the late Harold Lee Rugh and Dorothy Mae (Geist) Rugh.

Sandy was a 1963 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

On December 12, 1964, she married her first-grade childhood sweetheart, Thomas Lee Hoch.  They just celebrated their sixty-year anniversary.

She was a former member of the Assembly of God in Walston.  She was also a former member of the Women’s Methodist Group of Barton Chapel.

Her family and home was her pride and joy, she joyfully decorated every room of the house for each season.  Summertime meant beautiful hanging baskets lining her covered porch and always room “for one more”.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed baking and canning for her family.  She loved get togethers and hated missing out on any party.  Her grandchildren were so special to her and each holiday she made little treat bags for each of them. Going shopping at the mall with Tom was a favorite pastime for both of them, they enjoyed getting out and seeing people.

In addition to her husband Tom, she is survived by four children, Brent Hoch of Ringgold, Wendy (Rob) Weaver of Ringgold, Loren (Lisa) Hoch of Salem, Ohio and Shanna (Michael) Beckett of DuBois; seven grandchildren, Alicia (Devon Brooks) Hoch, Heather Hoch, Easton (Gina) Weaver, Austin (Chelsea) Weaver, Parker (Alyssa) Weaver, Michelle (Norman) Byerly and Andrew Beckett; six great-grandchildren, Landon Brooks, Kennedy Weaver, Bradley, Lynnzee, Charleigh, Linkin; two sisters, Debbie (Don) Esposito and Beth Roy.

Preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dennis Rugh.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Barton Chapel Church in Sprankle Mills and a drop in luncheon immediatly following from 12 p.m. to 2 at the Frostburg Community Center.  Arrangements under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, inc.

Her ashes will be interred in the future at Barton Chapel Cemetery.
