Sandra Marie Dubensky,84, of Punxsutawney passed away April 1, 2023 at Mulberry Square.
She was born on September 24, 1938 in DuBois the daughter of the late Bernard and Anna (Valunas) Shilala. On October 5, 1957 she married Peter “Lefty” Dubensky, who preceded her in death on February 3, 2018.
Retired, Sandra worked as the business manager at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital for over 35 years.
She was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.
In her younger years, Sandra enjoyed going to the casinos and gambling with her husband Lefty. She will be remembered for being a strong willed and independent woman. Sandra was extremely family oriented and enjoyed having family gatherings and made sure everyone was well taken care of.
Sandra is survived by her two daughters, Tammi Ifert and her husband Jim of Needmore, Pa and Wendy Heberling and her husband Paul of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren: Eric Heberling and his wife Lauren, Staci Heberling, Jay Ifert and his wife Liz and Evan Ifert; three great grandchildren: Peter, Ellie Ann and Ruby.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sandra was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Vessello.
A Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Vasyl Kadar. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Punxsutawney.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.
