Sally Louise Anderson, 77, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Mulberry Square Elder Care with her family by her side.
Her daughter Diana was her caregiver for many years.
She was born in Punxsutawney on September 01, 1944, a daughter of the late William Lee Whitesell and Sally Louise (Hanley) Whitesell.
On June 30, 1964, she married Marlen “Swede” Elmer Anderson. He preceded her in death on September 23, 1991.
Sally worked as a Housekeeper at the Country Villa Motel for many years, she also previously worked for Loree Footwear. Sally was positive, upbeat and always had a smile on her face.
She was the mother of two amazing daughters, the late Debra Lynn (Anderson) Young and Diana Richards of Punxsutawney; two grandsons, Darren Young and Devin Young. Sally is remembered for always showing her family what love was as they grew up and being an outgoing fun grandparent. She knew what being a grandmother, mother and aunt was all about. The family enjoyed going on vacation, shopping and going out to restaurants and being together. She truly enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters also.
Sally liked to play Bingo, slot games on her computer, playing cards, watching Days of our Lives and game shows. She could be counted on for babysitting for her family sometimes friends.
In addition to her daughter and grandson, she is survived by six siblings, William “Bill” Whitesell and wife Sharon of Punxsutawney, Robert “Bob” Whitesell and fiancé Andrea Stoffregen of Cincinnati, Ohio, Samuel Whitesell and wife Sherry of Johnstown, Judy Vanhorn of North Tonawanda, New York, Wanda Neal of Punxsutawney, Patty Schrock of Rochester, New York and Numerous Aunts and Uncles Along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins of Punxsutawney; great granddaughter, Sophia Young.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Marlen “Swede” Anderson, and mother in-law Zelma Stiver Anderson and Father in-law George Anderson and daughter, Debra Lynn Young.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
