Russell Adams, Jr. Obituary

Russell Laird Adams, Jr., 70, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Friday, November 29, 2024.

He was born in Punxsutawney on April 11, 1954, a son of the late Russell Laird Adams, Sr. and Delores Marie (Bowers) Adams.

Russ was a 1974 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

On November 08, 1975, he married his best friend and lifelong companion, Lois Eloide Humble.  She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Russ worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for many years, he was a true craftsman who could fix anything that came his way, from the most stubborn engines to heaviest machinery.  He had a natural knack for problem-solving and a love of tools that led him to a lifelong passion as a mechanic.  He was always ready to share his wisdom or lend a hand.

When he wasn’t in the garage, he was quick to pick up the phone and call a relative or friend to catch up with them.  Above all else, he loved to tease and harass his grandkids that he dearly loved. Russ had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making the kids laugh with memories that will always be remembered.

In addition to Lois, he is survived by two sons, Adam (Mandi Perry) Adams of Punxsutawney and Michael (Heather) Adams of NuMine; three grandchildren, Aubrey and Reagan Adams and “Abby” Abigail Perry; one brother, Doug (Missy) Adams of Hamilton; two sisters, Sharon (John) Eberhardt of Altoona and Kris Adams of Dillsburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, a, brother, John Adams; one sister, Lela Gourley with whom he had many long phone conversations with; a brother in-law Ronnie Gourley; and a grandson, Greyson Adams.
