Ronald "Buck" McCoy Obituary

Ronald “Buck” Wayne McCoy, Sr., 79, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

He was born in Indiana, a son of the late Howard Smith McCoy and Kathryn Naomi (Jeffries) McCoy.

On April 15, 1972, he married Delores Jean Hileman.  She preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.

“Buck” previously worked at Sharon Steel Corporation for many years, he also worked at Wazelle Garbage service and Punxsutawney Borough.

His passions were hunting, fishing and riding motorcycle.

He will be remembered as a good man, a good father with a heart of gold, he would do anything for anyone.

Surviving relatives include seven children, Lori J. (David) Gaston of Rossiter, Ronald Wayne (Jennifer) McCoy, Jr. of Punxsutawney, Sheri Ann Roller of Punxsutawney, Christy Elaine (Travis) Kirbaugh of Punxsutawney, Melissa Sue (Jeremiah) Nichol of Punxsutawney and Daniel Jacob McCoy of Punxsutawney; four stepsons, Samuel Joseph Miller of Anita, James (Laurie) Miller of Punxsutawney, Doug Miller of Punxsutawney and Donald Miller of Anita; twenty one grandchildren; twenty eight great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded by in death by a daughter, Tina Marie Bowser; five brothers, Robert M., James H., Eugene L., Ellsworth and Roger L. McCoy; six sisters, Elizabeth N. Nyland, Sara L. Leksell, Nora Belle Huey, Olive M. Ackley, Thelma R. McCoy and Beverly J. Chapman.

There will be no viewing, however, friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Donald Pendley.

His ashes will be interred at Hopewell Cemetery.
