Ronald Ryder DuMont, 81, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 28, 2024, with his loving wife by his side.
He was born in Punxsutawney on August 14, 1943, the son of the late Armond Leon DuMont and Ruth Isabell (Ryder) DuMont.
Mr. DuMont began his lengthy military career in the United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict, following his discharge he joined the United States Army and devoted an additional thirty-five years of service. His skills and unwavering dedication made him a valued member of his unit. He was a dedicated patriot, serving with honor and loyalty.
Beyond his service, Ron was known for his warm heart and gentle spirit. A devoted husband, he cherished his time with his beloved wife, Judy. She fondly remembers him as a sweet and kind man, a loving husband and her steadfast companion. Their life together was filled with simple joys. Ron enjoyed his Sunday tradition of gathering with his buddies to enjoy some target shooting and camaraderie.
In addition to his wife Judy, he is survived by three children, Nannette DuMont of Ohio, Ronald DuMont of Ohio and Charlene Clipse of South Carolina; three stepchildren, James Armstrong of California, Edward (Laurie) Armstrong of Punxsutawney and Diana (Don) Raybuck of Reynoldsville, two grandchildren and nine step grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Theodore “Teddy” DuMont of Georgia.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Delozier.
Interment will follow at Burnside Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded graveside by the Jefferson County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
