Phyllis Orcutt Northey, 96, of Brookville, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Laurelbrooke Assisted Living.
She was born in Sigel on October 19, 1928, a daughter of the late Wade Bernard Orcutt and Nettie (Rankin) Orcutt. She was the last of her immediate family.
On August 28, 1948, she married Robert Northey. They enjoyed sixty-two years together. Bob preceded her in death on September 16, 2010.
She graduated from Sigel School, Clarion University and did graduate work at Penn State and the University of Arizona. Mrs. Northey was employed by DuBois Area School and Brookville Area Schools where she retired after teaching for thirty years.
Phyllis was the last Charter Member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, a fifty-year member of Sigma, Sigma, Sigma Sorority, Order of Eastern Star for fifty years, Martha V. Conrad Study Club, Brookville Hospital Auxilliary.
Following her retirement, she volunteered at Laurelbrooke Landing and the hospital. She remained active in her later years.
She was family-oriented, she enjoyed camping, attending Pirate games and dining out with her family. She enjoyed reading, exercising, knitting, golfing and playing Bridge.
Survived by three sons, Joseph (Marsha) Northey, Charles (Melissa) Northey and Robert (Molly) Northey, all of Brookville; six grandchildren, Jim Northey, Julie (Walter) Wineberg, Wade Northey, William (Sarah) Northey, Jill Northey, Jan (Easton Singleton) Northey; eleven great grandchildren, Lucy Northey, Landon Joyner, Abby Northey, Emma and Anna Northey, Zac Kiehl, Lily Esposito and Mila Northey, Keith Reiser-Northey, Colton Reiser-Northey and Kalon Reiser-Northey.
Preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband Bob; two brothers, Eugene and Kenneth Orcutt; three sisters, Virginia Kiehl, Pauline Uren and Dorothy Steele.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no viewing. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
