Phillip Pavlak Obituary

Phillip Vincent Pavlak,68, of Punxsutawney, joined his family in Heaven on Friday April 30,2021 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Natrona November 6,1952, the son of the late Phillip Paul Pavlak and Verda Mae (Davis) Pavlak. After graduating fron Highlands High School and attending Edinboro College, he joined the Army, serving as a weapons instructor and armorer. It was his responsibility to teach over 300 women how to shoot automatic weapons! He was an advocate for veteran’s rights. Phil served in the Vietnam War and like his father, was proud to serve in the military. 

After the military, He homesteaded in Alaska, building his own log cabin, and hunting and fishing for sustenance. He loved Alaska and the freedom it offered. Phil was multi-talented, being proficient in photography, painting, sculpting,and guitar. He loved to hunt and fish and golf, especially with his son. He was patient and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren his skills.  Phil was Christian by faith and never questioned the will of God. Early in life he founded " The Rock", a mission to help addicted young people find faith and strength in the Lord.  He was also part of the Punxsutawney Drug Task force.

He is survived by his former wife and good friend Sandra L. Pavlak, three children; Jason Pavlak,and fiance Angela Thompson, Jennifer Heinze, and Jordan Pavlak, all of Punxsutawney; six grandchildren, Harley Shepler,Tobias and Aidan Pavlak,Lauralai Heinze, London Craft, and Catalina Parada, and one sister Victoria Pavlak of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Larry and John Early, and one sister Karen Jones.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no viewing. His ashes will be interred at Circle Hill Cemetery at a later date, where military honors will be accorded.
