Peter Thomas Parise, 92, of Walston, went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2025, at Penn Highlands DuBois, with his family by his side.
He was born in Punxsutawney on February 3, 1933, a son of the late Peter P. Parise and Angelina M. (Adams) Parise.
In 1954, Pete married to the Catherine “Boots” Long. She preceded him in death in 1994.
Mr. Parise was Catholic by faith and was a member of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church and the Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.
He worked as a conductor for B&O Railroad for over thirty-three years. His co-workers called him “Polyester Pete” because he was always so well dressed on the job.
Pete was a pleasant, kind and loving man. He was generous and helpful to anyone in need. He described himself as a little country boy from Walston, who lived a good life. He loved to travel and often told others that he had been to all fifty states and nine countries.
He enjoyed collecting antique toys, belt buckles, coins and sports cards. He enjoyed going to the casino when he could Each summer he looked forward to Music in the Park
Christmas was always special to Pete, he loved to host his family for Christmas Eve dinners where he served Italian Christmas dinner and had an amazing desert table for everyone to enjoy.
Pete was extremely proud to be 100 percent Italian, he would often be seen wearing his Italian t-shirts and Italian pin stripes on his cars.
He leaves behind his beloved family, two daughters, Patti (Tom) Blose, Linda Parise Nastasi, all of Punxsutawney; and one son, Thomas (Rita) Parise of Lancaster; grandchildren, Bille (Mike) Duckett, Shawn (Judy) Blose, Courtney (Jerome) Schultz, Cruz Parise, Valerie (Travis) Hildebrand, Aaron Parise, David Parise, Sarah (Tyler) Hornberger, Suzanne Parise, Jonathan (Sasha) Koper, Brett (Kiera) Batley; thirteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Ruby.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Catherine, son, James Parise; brother Thomas Parise; Great granddaughter Brittanie Frantz and great grandson Westly Hildebrand.
There will be no public viewing. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
