Nancy Arlene Forrest, 77, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor.
She was born in New Kensington on November 26, 1946, and was a daughter of the late Merle Wayne Vanhorn and Glennetta Mae (Campbell) Vanhorn.
On August 14, 1965, she married the love of her life, Donald Dee Forrest. Together, they raised a family grounded in love, faith and strong values. Nancy and Don enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage prior to his death on November 21, 2012.
Nancy was a devoted mother, grandmother and a woman of deep faith. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. Known as a caring and nurturing figure, she played a pivotal role in helping to raise them, providing guidance, love and countless memories they will forever hold dear. She was very devoted to her genealogy and had a passion for sewing.
She is survived by five sons, Thomas (Irene) Forrest of Clearfield, Jeffrey (Ann) Forrest of Reynoldsville, William (Angel) Forrest of Punxsutawney, Timothy (Charlene) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Joseph (Wanda) Forrest of Rentz, Georgia; twelve grandchildren, Kayla Blystone, Gregory Forrest, Ashley Forrest, Macy Forrest, Chris Forrest, Brianna Forrest, DJ Forrest, Andrew Forrest, Jacob Forrest, Dillon Conoran, Brylan Conoran, and Taylor Conoran . Many great grandchildren; one brother, Merle Vanhorn of Beaver Falls.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and one sister, Shirley Jean Berry.
Her family would like to recognize her granddaughter Kayla for her love and dedication to caring for Nancy.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m . Saturday, October 26, 2024, officiated by Pastor Guy Smith at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
