Michael Brudnock Obituary

Michael “Boonie” Brudnock, 82, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022.

He was born on February 25, 1940, in Crawfordtown, the son of the late Mike and Charlotte (Whitfield) Brudnock.

Mr. Brudnock served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.  After his service in the Army, he received his teaching degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Michael could not be restricted to being indoors as a teacher, so he found his niche working outside in the fresh air as a roofer.  He was known all over the tri-county area as a roofer for Dunkel Roofing for many, many years.

Boonie will be remembered for his free willed spirit, love of life and his enjoyment of being around people. He loved to travel by motorcycle and was known as being a wanderer- you never knew where he would end up and where you might run into Boonie.  He knew people from all around the local and surrounding areas.  He was well known and loved by many for simply being Boonie.

He is survived by a brother, Metro Brudnock of Punxsutawney; nephews: Dan Brudnock and wife Denise of Home,  Kirk Brudnock and his wife Brandy of Punxsutawney, Peter Brudnock and his wife Nicole of Cut Off, LA; and Ronald Cielo, who Boonie thought of like a son.

He was a member of St Joseph’s Polish Society in Delancey, he loved to go there often to be around the other patrons and workers.  He was also a member of the Moose and the Walston Club.

In addition to his parents, Boonie was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Robert Brudnock and an infant brother.

There will be no visitation.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. A celebration of life service will be at a date to be announced.

Memorial donations can be made in Boonie’s memory to any local fire company which aided in his search.
