Maryjane McKenrick

Maryjane McKenrick, 59, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

She was born in Clearfield, on June 23, 1965, a daughter of H. Jane (Crowe) (McKenrick) McAfee of Punxsutawney, and the late Terrance Edward McKenrick.

Maryjane was 1982 graduate of Hempfield Area High School.

A woman of remarkable intelligence and boundless curiosity, she was a lifelong learner who found great joy in the pages of a book.

She had a natural gift for nurturing both minds and gardens.  A truly gifted cook, she had the ability to turn the simplest ingredients into wonderful family meals that brought family and friends together, creating memories that will be cherished forever.  She cherished her grandchildren dearly, they brought her much joy.

Maryjane will be remembered for her kindness, wisdom and generosity of spirit.  Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three children, David Phillip Fritz and fiancé Katie of Boswell, Megan Fritz of Hannastown, and Brittany (Chris) Duffy of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Patrick Fritz, Cole Fowler, Landen Gribbin, Brody Gribbin and Gavin Murphy; who will carry forward her love for learning, beauty and simple joys of life.

She is preceded in death by her father, Terrance and a sister, Ginger Upolster.

There will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney.
