Mary Lou Rittenhouse

Mary Lou Rittenhouse, 76, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born in Brookville on December 17, 1947, a daughter of the late Irvin Richard Deemer and Elizabeth Hazel (Vandervort) Deemer.

On August 13, 1966, she married John Arthur Rittenhouse, Sr., they enjoyed fifty years of marriage. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2016.

Mary was a wonderful mother, she liked to take care of her family and grandchildren.  Hobbies included planting and tending to her flowers, drawing, watching television and putting puzzles together.

She survived by four children, John A. Rittenhouse, Jr. of Smickburg; three daughters, Victoria (James) Bush of Punxsutawney, Caroline (Jesse) Mundis of Glen Rock, and Stephanie Rittenhouse; nine grandchildren, Dianna (Ben) Shreckengost, Nichole (Caleb) Martin, Shannon Bush, Marcus (Kayla) Bush, Jesse Mundis, Jr., Heather Mundis, Adam Mundis, Tiffany Bair and Donovan Pruzinsky; eleven great grandchildren, Riley, Olivia, Clayton and Kolton Shreckengost, Carter and Keaton Martin, Dominic Iozza, Kaylen Pennington, Joshua Bush, Theo and Donovan Pruzinsky, Jr.; one brother, Daniel Deemer of Colorado; two sisters, Hazel (Joe) Gaston and Mona Harriger.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Richard “Dick” Deemer and Blair Deemer.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Marcus John.

Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park.
