Mary “Louise” Hartzfeld, 91, of Big Run, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at home.
She was born in Reynoldsville on June 2, 1932, a daughter of the late Calvin Arthur Irvine and Hannah Catherine (Brocious) Irvine.
On March 19, 1955, she married the love of her life, Harold Fredrick Hartzfeld, Jr. He preceded her in death on August 04, 2012.
She was a member of the Solid Rock Community Church, formerly St. Phillips United Methodist Church of Big Run.
Louise was a homemaker, she loved taking care of her family. She enjoyed canning, crocheting, quilting and she made many wedding cakes for people over the years.
She is survived by three children, Shirley Louise (Gerald) Bowser of Punxsutawney, Evelyn Marie (Butch) Brunner of Punxsutawney and Harold Michael (Barbara) Hartzfeld of Jasper, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Justin M. (Brandi) Bowser, Cedric Campbell, Earl (Michelle) Campbell, Valerie Sue (Phillip) Bradford, Stephanie Ann (Andrew) Redwine, Katie Lynn (Douglas) Roberts, Melanie Marie (Michah) Oliver; nine great grandchildren, Erik John Bowser, Zachary Michael Bowser, Haley Rose Bradford, Madison Roberts, William Roberts, Alexander Roberts, Waylon Barnett, Ronin Oliver, Charlotte Oliver; one great-great grandson, Hoyt Bowser; two sisters, Vera “Ivonne” Chryster of DuBois and Harrier “Gene” Beer of Reynoldsville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, grandson, Erik J. Bowser, brother, William Howard Irvine and infant sister, Alice Viola Irvine.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Big Run.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Joel Fugate.
Interment will follow at Bowers Cemetery, Gaskill Township.
Memorial donations may be made in Louise’s memory to Big Run Volunteer Fire Company, Solid Rock Community Church or Sykesville Ambulance.
