Mary Catherine Wright

Mary “Nun” Catherine Wright, 69, of Brookville, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025, as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

She was born in Brookville on September 28, 1955, a daughter of the late Robert Eugene Miller and Evelyn Janet (Harris) Miller.

On December 08, 1973, she married the love of her life, Donald Lee Wright.  They enjoyed forty-three together before he preceded her in death on January 28, 2017.

Mary was a kind, loving person with a big heart, she always took care of others and loved her family fiercely.  She was the glue that held everyone together following the death of Don.  Her presence in the lives of her family will be dearly missed.

Mary liked to collect elephants, she enjoyed riding the Harley motorcycle with Don and loved her dogs Bella and Alpha, she was also an animal lover of all kinds.

She is survived by one daughter, Sunny Depp and fiancé Joshua Snyder of DuBois; three grandchildren, Devlin Hale and wife Cari of Brookville, Shania Hale of North Carolina and David Hale and companion Danielle of Mt. Pleasant; three great grandchildren, Giovanni, Scarlet, Luna, and Kaelyn; one sister, Janet M. Hetrick and husband Samuel of Knoxdale; two brothers, Larry Miller and wife Joyce of Brookville and Robert L. Miller and wife Mary of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and one daughter, Dawn Racheal Hale.

Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor David Ginn.
