Martha Jean Ferringer

Martha Jean Ferringer, 90, of New Bethlehem, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Snyder Memorial Home in Marienville.

She was born in Newtonburg, on April 1, 1933, a daughter of the late William A. Bracken and Verna N. (Wayland) Bracken.

On April 29, 1960, she married Boyd Alroe Ferringer, Jr.  He preceded her in death on October 13, 2013.

Martha worked at Standard Pennant, Beeline Fashions, and sold mobile homes prior to working at the PA Memorial Home and eventually went into private duty nursing.

She was a member of the Oakland Church of God in Distant.

She enjoyed reading, singing with her sisters and visiting with her grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include, one son, Shanon B. Ferringer of Shippensburg; one daughter, Janis M. (Curt) Myers of Morrisdale; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and six sisters, Wilda Parada, Elma Shaffer, Enna Bracken, Elizabeth Strawcutter, Bernice Lunger and Ruby Vrobel; two brothers, Clyde Bracken and William “Clint” Bracken.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Big Run.

A Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Mt Carmel Cemetery, Clover Run.
