Marjorie Lee DeChurch, 82, of Big Run, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
She was born in Punxsutawney on December 30, 1940, a daughter of the late Earl Behrendt and Helen (Zelonis) Behrendt.
On October 07, 1961, she married her sweetheart, Nicholas Lorrain DeChurch. They enjoyed fifty-eight years together and raised three wonderful children. Nick preceded her in death on April 02, 2019.
Mrs. DeChurch worked as a Postmaster in Big Run and eventually retired from the Postal Service finishing her career in Marion Center Post Office.
In her younger years, she and Nick traveled all around to compete in competitive couples dance roller skating. Their joint talents gave them the opportunity to attend the National’s in Nebraska.
When she was not working, Marjorie was satisfied with spending time in her home, cooking big family dinners and enjoying her children. See enjoyed watching the birds and the many deer that wandered into her yard and comfortably bedded down beneath the bay window of her home. She had a tender heart for animals and enjoyed the family dogs over the years and particularly loved her cat Angel. She never lost her love of old Country and Western music like Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn.
She is survived by three children, Nicholas E. (fiance Phyllis Seelinger)DeChurch of Numine, Karl A. (Marnie) DeChurch of Emlenton and Kerri DeChurch of Erie; one sister, Loretta Gray.
Preceded in death by her parents and husband Nicholas.
Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday,December 05, 2023 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday , December 06, 2023, at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Cliff Hamby.
Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the St. Judes Children Research Hospital.
