Marion Lee Wymer

Marion Lee Wymer, 82, of Big Run, passed away surrounded by her children, on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Christ the King Manor.

She was born in Sykesville on October 9, 1940, the only child of Howard Lloyd Reiter and Alda Marie (Fye) Reiter.

Marion was a 1958 graduate of Sykesville Henderson Joint High School, and a 1962 graduate of Bob Jones University, where she majored in music education.

On February 09, 1963, she married her sweetheart, Jerry Wymer, Sr., they enjoyed forty-nine years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on November 14, 2012.

She was a talented pianist and organist. She played and sang in the choir for many years at the St. Phillips United Methodist Church in Big Run.

Her smile was big and her laugh was infectious, she was happy-go-lucky and enjoyed being around others.  Her family was her biggest focus in life. She was a great mother, she raised her children right and would do anything for them.  Her cooking and baking were phenomenal, particularly her apple pies, which no one can duplicate.  The family had an apple pie marathon at one time and made seventy pies, which they shared with many friends and neighbors.

She is survived by six children, Mark Wymer of Big Run, Beverly Burkett and William Copeland of Philadelphia, Michael Wymer and wife Lisa of Punxsutawney, James Wymer of Mechanicsburg, Jerry “JJ” Wymer and wife Kathy of Punxsutawney, and Lois Kerr and husband Jeremy of Rossiter; eleven grandchildren, Sonya Beatty and husband John, Willow Burkett, Amanda Overly and husband A.J., Hannah Duda and husband George, Brock, Zack, Kyrsten, Devyn, Kaleb, Kyle Wymer and Peyton Kerr; four great grandchildren, Scarlett Wymer, Ivy and Fiona Overly and Talia Duda.

In accordance to her wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation.  A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

Her ashes will be interred at McClure Cemetery, Big Run.
