Maria Lyn Temchulla, 40, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
She was born in DuBois on April 25, 1984, a daughter of John Anthony Astorino and Holly D. (McGee) Astorino.
Maria graduated from Punxsutawney Area High School, Class of 2002.
She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.
On August 06, 2005, she married her high school sweetheart, Joshua James Temchulla. The two were soulmates and inseparable from the very beginning of their relationship. They enjoyed nearly nineteen years of a nearly perfect marriage.
She was the incredibly loving mother and adored her sons, Landan James Temchulla and Paxton John Temchulla. She was their number one fan and was very involved in all their school events and sport activities. In her down time, she enjoyed laughing and spending time with her family and friends, creating endless memories for all of them. Maria left an impact on everyone she came in contact with.
Her working career involved taking care of others, she was a true advocate for everyone she had the opportunity to work with. Putting the needs of those individuals was a priority that she took sincerely and wholeheartedly.
She was actively involved in the Punxsutawney Chamber of Commerce, Lisa’s Ladybug’s, the First and Ten Club, and she became the primary keeper of the records of Oaklawn Cemetery in Cloe after her grandfather passed away. She put her heart and soul into everything that she was involved in.
In addition to her husband Josh, sons, Landan and Paxton, her parents, John and Holly Astorino, she is survived by one sister, Jenna (Kevin) Davis of Punxsutawney; two nieces, Raea and Reese Davis; and her maternal grandmother Maxine McGee.
Preceded in death by her maternal grandfather John McGee and paternal grandparents, John and Erma Astorino.
Friends will be received from 1-8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
