Margaret Anne McAfoos, 89, of Brookville, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor.
She was born in Wooster, Ohio on November 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Samuel Lawson Barnett and Opal Louise (Dillard) Barnett.
On November 13, 1955, she married the love of her life, James William “Bill” McAfoos. They enjoyed fifty-six years of marriage prior to his death in 2011.
Margaret was a dedicated employee of Brookville Glove factory for thirty-six years as well as a wonderful homemaker for her family.
She was a member of the Stanton Methodist Church.
In addition to spending time with her family, her enjoyments were crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting and gardening. She had an incredibly kind heart for the many cats that she cared for over the years.
She is survived by three children, James McAfoos and fiancé Jamie Slaughhaupt of Ohl, John McAfoos of Summerville and Melody (Owen Brownlee) McAfoos of Brookville; nine grandchildren, Keith ( Loralee) Butler, Bill (Leah) Butler, Andrew Butler, Wendy Jackson, James Moats, Kimberly Moats, Donald Minich, John (Allison) McAfoos and Heather McAfoos; five great grandchildren, Emmy, Ellie, Angel, Sian, Dallan, Elaina and Rowan.
Preceded in death by her parents and dear husband Bill as well as one daughter, Tammy Moats.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1 p.m. officiated by Pastor Thomas Verner.
Interment will follow at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
