Louise Howard, 84, of Sykesville, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Mulberry Square Eldercare.
She was born in Punxsutawney on February 15, 1939, a daughter of the late Michael Kotula and Helen (Dunmire) Kotula.
On March 17, 1956, she married Bernard “Ben” Lamont Howard. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1984.
Louise formerly worked in the deli, bakery and as a cashier at Riverside Grocery Store, she also worked as babysitter for local families.
She enjoyed playing Bingo weekly, watching cowboy and game shows and word search puzzles.
Above all, Louise enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Randy (Regina) Howard of Punxsutawney, Kathleen “Kathy” (Jim) Walker of Reynoldsville, and Scott (Holly) Howard of Punxsutawney; daughter in-law, Connie Howard of Punxsutawney; nine grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Smith, Amber (Tanner) Lowmaster, James (Katie) Walker, Jr., Stacey Getch, Nathan (Leslie) Howard, Jason Howard, Cody (Kylee) Howard, Brycen (Ashley) Howard, and Logan Howard; twelve great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben, two sons, Ricky Howard and Tim Howard; one brother, James Leroy Kotula; and her longtime companion, Tom Shaffer.
Arrangements are private and under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.
