Linnea “Lynn” Mae Smith, 66, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 12, 2025.
She was born in Punxsutawney on April 22, 1959, a daughter of the late Harold Joseph “Hootie” Anderson and Arlene Vera (Pierce) Anderson.
Lynn was a 1977 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
She was a member of the Smithport Wesleyan Methodist Church. Her faith defined her every action, she loved the Lord and lived her life in the service of others to glorify his name.
In November of 1991, she married D. Alan Smith. Together they had an incredible blended family and shared many wonderful memories and years together.
She was a selfless, caring woman that never hesitated to put others before herself, especially her family. Her greatest joy and role in life was being “Grammy.” Her heart and house were always filled with love and children. She found purpose in nurturing those around her, and her warmth created a home where everyone was cherished and understood.
In addition to her husband Alan, she is survived by four children, Misty (Jeff) Kimmerle of Rossiter, Jared (Brittany) Pennington of Punxsutawney, Dr. Kelley (Joe Ruscitti) Smith of Rockton and Jodi (James) Presloid of Punxsutawney; eleven grandchildren, Faith and Gabriel Kimmerle, Maddox Wasicki, Whitlee and Waylon Pennington, Joey, Sam and Aly Ruscitti, Riley, Zach and Max Presloid; two sisters, Tationia “Shawnee” Friend of Punxsutawney, Rita Campagnola of DuBois; one brother, Joseph (Kathy) Anderson of Rossiter; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Amber Pennington, brother in-law Jack Friend, and Larry Pennington.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Funeral services are private.
Interment will be at Union Hill Cemetery, Rossiter.
