Linda Depp Obituary

Linda Lee Depp, 69 of Punxsutawney passed away suddenly at her home surrounded by her beloved family and her dog “Lenny” on Saturday, August 18, 2018.  Mrs. Depp was born on November 19, 1948 to the late Rass and Catherine Ruth (Jackson) Denton.  She married her husband of 38 years, Ralph Eugene Depp on May 25, 1980.  Mr. Depp survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Linda was a 1966 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School and a 1979 graduate of the DuBois Business College.  During her lifetime, Linda wore many hats.  She was a welder and assembler at Cameron Industries; the secretary for the rabbit building and judging at the Jefferson County Fair; an employee at the Jefferson County Assistance Office; a tax preparer for H&R Block; a Tupperware Sales Manager; the Chief Financial Officer of Small Town Life Publishing and a popular columnist with her recurring column “Wonderings and Wanderings from Mom.”  On top of her very busy schedule, Linda volunteered at many church, community, organization, and school events.   Linda was also a farm wife who for many years entered her baked goods (including her famous peanut butter fudge), sewing, vegetables, and crafts into contests at the local fairs and would use her prize money to buy her family Christmas gifts.  Linda was part of a large circle of friends whom she loved.  As such, she was once asked by her daughter how she would like to be remembered.  Linda replied, “I would like people to remember me as a good Christian lady who was adored by her family and friends.”  According to her daughter, she achieved that goal just by the kind and generous way she lived her life.  Linda was indeed very special, her husband, Ralph, wished to close with a quote from the heart, “We loved her very much!”

Linda is survived by her husband Ralph; her children, Jennifer Lynn Forrest of Punxsutawney, Christine and husband Larry Reinhart of Punxsutawney, and Joann Landry of State College.  She is also survived by a sister, Josephine Martin of Sandy Valley, PA; two grand-children, Joshua Reinhart and Jordan Landry; and, numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Rass and Catherine Ruth (Jackson) Denton; and a sister, Donna Jean Martin.

Friends will be received from 2 - 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., in Big Run.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Big Run funeral home with pastor Carole Bergman officiating.

Linda will be interred at the Desire Cemetery.
