Kenneth Edwin Reed, 62, of McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania, lost his courageous battle to cancer on October 14, 2024, at home with his loving family.
He was born on December 12, 1961, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
Kenny is a graduate from Keystone Oaks High School.
He was a hardworking man with a career in the manufacturing industries in the Pittsburgh area; Vemco, Bruce Plastic, Three Rivers Optical and McKees Rocks Forging. Over the years he helped his sister with her farm and mobile home park adventures
A man of strength, integrity, and bold determination, he lived a life filled with strong commitment to his employers over the years and deep devotion to his family. He was a kind man, always willing to give a lending hand to those in need. He never missed an opportunity to support his children, they were his priority. He was a timely man the earlier the better. An introvert, with a good sense of dry humor. As his health failed him, he remained strong, courageous and a little bit funny. Kenny loved to go hunting with his dad and uncles and had a standing date with his mom to go to their favorite restaurants. An avid Steeler fan. He enjoyed listening to audiobooks and his old-time music.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Julie (Haitian) Reed, his cherished children Bryon (Erin Zoller) Reed and Christine Reed and his treasured grandsons Caden and August Reed. He was a pillar of strength for his family and his presence will be dearly missed. He is the son of Larry “Hike” Reed and Betsy (Conrad) Morales and a loyal brother to his sister Diane Brown and brothers Wayne Reed and Bill Morales. He is survived by his step-mother, Patty Davis, brothers and sisters of his blended families; Ricky, Sandy, and Vincent Morales, David Reed, Cheri Nichol , Cindy Chelednik, and Lisa Authier, his in-laws Janet and Raymond Haitian, Uncles Don Reed (Sylvia), Dale Reed (Barb) and Aunts Joyce Reed and Mary Jane Anthony, and the life-long extended families of Jim and Donna Kusluch, Jan and Barry Quinet, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, stepfather William Morales, Uncles Elmer Reed, Kim Anthony, and Aunt Kathy Conrad and his mother[1]in-law Nancy Haitian. Kenny loved coming back to the homestead and desired to be laid to rest by his paternal grandparents Frank Reed and Marie (Smathers) Reed. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 19, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Committal service and interment will be at St John’s Cemetery after which family and friends will gather for lunch at the St John’s Reformed Church.
