Kenneth Louis Heddens, 79, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born in Williamsport on May 13, 1945, the son of the late Kenneth Louis Heddens, Sr. and Zenadia (Plont) Heddens.
On August 17, 1968, he married the former Gail Ann Hock. They enjoyed fifty-six years of marriage. Gail survives and resides in Punxsutawney.
Mr. Heddens was a member of the Army National Guard for six years prior to his Honorable Discharge.
After his time in the Guard, Ken, found his passion in operating heavy equipment in the coal mining industry, where his attention to detail and skill made him a highly respected figure on every job site he worked. He took great pride in his work.
He enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, whether it was fishing, hunting, gardening or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home. In his retirement, he began the hobby of making wine, which those who got to sample it, say he was good at it.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by two children, Jamie Michael (Tania) Heddens of State College and Megan Leigh (Michael) Kucharski of Punxsutawney; one grandson, Zachary Michael Heddens.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
