Karen "Kay" Neal Obituary

Karen “Kay” Ann Neal, 76, of Punxsutawney, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at home.

She was born in Colver on July 1, 1949, a daughter of the late Darl Allen Lowmaster and Elizabeth Laura (Bolvin) Lowmaster.

On December 18, 1975, she married Donald E. Neal.  They enjoyed forty-four years of marriage prior to his death in 2019.

Kay led a simple, contented life, finding joy in the little things that mattered most-her family, laughter around the card table, lunch with her sister’s and the occasional trip to the casino where she loved to try her luck.  She was happiest when surrounded by the people who meant the world to her.  Her easy-going nature and love for life’s simple pleasures left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by two children, Steven Brian (Penny) Detrie of Cocoa, Florida and Staci (John) Adams; four grandchildren, Chad (Ashley) Firment, Linsie Adams, Steven (Miranda) Detrie, Jr. and Kailee Detrie; one great granddaughter, Camila Firment; two brothers, William (Arlene) Lowmaster of Punxsutawney and John (Mary) Lowmaster of Indiana; two sisters, Patricia Duttry and Betty Lowmaster, both of Punxsutawney.

Preceded in death by one sister, Edith “Edie” Snyder; four brothers, Richard Lowmaster, Darl Jay “Joe” Lowmaster, Donald C. Lowmaster and Bernard “Ben” Lowmaster; one brother in-law, Robert Duttry.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
