Joyce "Joy" Campbell Obituary

Joyce “Joy” Ann Campbell, 75, of Big Run, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born in Pinchy, (Morrisdale area) Clearfield County on October 05, 1948, a daughter of the late Willis Smeal and Dorothy Jean (Luzier) Smeal.

On October 26, 2008, she married her best friend, Rodger Lee Campbell.  He survives and resides in Big Run.

Joy was a wonderful mother to her children. She devoted much of her life caring for her son Todd Butler.  He preceded her in death on January 15, 2018.

Her specialty was cooking for her family, weddings and special times like family reunions.

Knitting, sewing, crocheting were a few of her hobbies.  She was never afraid to roll up her sleeves and work shoulder to shoulder with her husband Rodger.

If someone needed something and she was able to help, she would never turn anyone away.

Her daughter, Tara Lea, considered her mother as her best friend in life.

In addition to her husband Rodger, she is survived by two children, Troy G. (Amy) Butler of Phillipsburg, and Tara Lea (Tommy) Hile of Woodland; stepdaughter, Tara Lyn Campbell of Punxsutawney; eleven grandchildren, Chelsea Lynn Kephart, Breanna Kephart, Braedon Butler, Trent Butler, Logan Hile, Morgan Joyce Hile, Joie Aljoe, Jayden Campbell, Ava Campbell, Lilly Campbell and Mea Baker; four great grandchildren; one brother, Gregory (Renee) Smeal of Clearfield; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, her son, Todd Edward Butler, grandson Jordan Thomas Hile; two brother, Leslie Smeal and Edward Smeal; one sister, Helen Luzier.

In accordance to her wishes, there will be no visitation.  Arrangements are under the direction of Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

Memorial donations may be made in Joy’s memory to honor the memory of Todd Butler to Autism Awareness or the Special Olympics.
