Josephine Pearl (Olexy) Switlick, 84, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Lane Ave Personal Care Home>
She was born in Olanta on May 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Michael Olexy and Catherine (Skebo) Olexy.
She was the wife of Charles Switlick. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Josephine previously worked at Lorea Shoe factory, Brickell’s Market and general housekeeping.
Prior to her onset of Dementia, she enjoyed gardening, canning, country music, cooking, sewing, crocheting and growing flowers.
She is survived by six children, Michael (Lisa) Switlick of Punxsutawney, Sharon (Steve) Shawver of McVeytown, Sandra (Tim) Burkett of Punxsutawney, Kathy Senior of DuBois, Susan (Gregg) Hoover of Bradford, Tim (Heather) Switlick of Punxsutawney; one sister, Margaret Lingenfelter of Albion; one brother, John (Virginia) Olexy of Rockton.
In addition to her parents and husband Charles, she is preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Olexy and Scott Switlick; two brothers, George Olexy, Albert Olexy and one sister, Rose Hickox.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Canoe Ridge.
