Joseph Curt Dickey, 94, of Punxsutawney, passed away September 7, 2022 at his home.
He was born on May 1, 1928 in Panic the son of the late Roy and Marguerite (McClincy) Dickey. On April 30, 1960 he married Doris (Hetrick) Dickey, she survives.
Joseph is a WWII Army vet who served in Korea prior to the Korean Conflict.
Retired, Joseph worked for 30 years for the Reynoldsville Post Office. After his retirement from the Post Office, he worked as an insurance agent for Patrons Mutual Life Insurance Agency in Indiana and also as a school bus driver.
He was a lifetime member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Panic.
Joseph was a proud farmer having grown up on a Dairy farm. He enjoyed raising his farm animals and taking care of the farm which also included growing a garden every year. He also enjoyed reading, walking and was a proud grandpa, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Dickey; three children: Curt Dickey and his wife Carmen of Richmond, VA, Rebecca Paul and her husband Gary of Pittsburgh, and Judith Mader and her husband Terry of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren: Joseph, Marguerite and Nathaniel Paul, and Mitchell and Evan Surmaj; and a brother, Doug Dickey and his wife Darla of Panic.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Dickey and Louis Dickey and a sister, Katherine Dickey.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 10am until the hour of services at 11am at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in Panic Cemetery.
