Jerry Lynn Haag, Sr., 67, of Punxsutawney, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born in DuBois on July 12, 1958, a son of the late George Sylvester Haag and Margaret Jane (Ruth) Haag.
Jerry was a 1977 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
He attended Cloe Methodist Church.
On December 16, 1978, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Alberta Susan Cribbs. They enjoyed forty-seven years of marriage and raised a family that he dearly loved.
Jerry was a man whose heart was firmly rooted in his family. He made it a point to call his kids almost daily, just to hear their voices and remind them how much they meant to him. He cherished large family gatherings, where laughter, memories and stories filled the room. Those moments – simple, noisy and full of love were where he felt most at home.
Christmas held a special place in his heart. He was delighted the beauty of poinsettias and the togetherness that came with the season. Jerry was not shy about showing his affection, he always gave his kids hugs and a kiss, making sure they always felt loved. Through every call, every embrace and every tradition he held dear, he showed his family that he loved them.
In addition to Alberta, he is survived by four children, Kristina (Keith) Harry, Jerry L. Haag, Jr., Richard (Shailean) Haag, and Kyle Haag, all of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Brent (Julia McAdoo) Harry, Giselle (Dorian Cowley) Hickox, Alex Harry and Christian Harry.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Stiver.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2026, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Paul Davis.
Interment will follow at Dever’s Cemetery, Banks Township, Indiana County.
