Jaye Clifford McKee, 100, of the Troutville area, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at DuBois Nursing Home.
He was born at home in the Johnsonburg-Rossiter area on October 13, 1924, a son of the late John Wilson McKee and Dora Catherine (Houck) McKee.
Jaye joked that he was a graduate of “the university of Glen Campbell.” His personality was larger than life and he was full of warmth, wisdom and wit-a true people person who never met a stranger. He loved nothing more than striking up a conversation, sharing a good laugh, and telling a well-timed joke that could brighten anyone’s day.
On September 27, 1947, he married Marilyn Almeda Ray. Together, they enjoyed sixty-nine years of marriage before she passed away on February 01, 2016.
His deep faith guided him throughout his life, and he remained a member of Trinity United Church of Christ Church in Troutville for well over eighty years, where he found great joy in serving others and spreading kindness.
Jaye worked as a truckdriver for NW Mining, the Kramer Mines and in open pit mining for Benjamin Coal. He also farmed his land when he was not working somewhere else.
His hobbies were traveling, meeting people and farming.
He is survived by one daughter, Helen Louise Cowie; two grandsons, Robert and Charles Styers.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Styers, four brothers, Ernest B. McKee, Carl H. McKee and John M. McKee; one sister, Gretta Neal; and son in-law, Bradley Cowie.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Troutville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the church, officiated by Eloise Kosko.
Interment will follow at Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery.
