Jane Marie Hetrick

Jane Marie Hetrick, 88, of North Tonawanda, New York passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Punxsutawney.

She was born in Punxsutawney on November 03, 1936, a daughter of the late George Charcalla and Anna (Brudnock) Charcalla.

On September 30, 1961, she married Donald Frank Hetrick.  He preceded her in death on April 05, 2006.

She was catholic by faith.

Jane enjoyed spending time with her family, including her sisters, nieces and nephews and cousins.  She welcomed everyone into her home and always had something delicious to share.  Cooking and baking was her specialty and food was always a perfect part of bringing everyone together.

She enjoyed spending time at the family homestead in Punxsutawney.  Each year,  she made the Memorial Day planting at cemeteries a priority, with her daughter Paige, they put flowers on forty graves around the area.  She lived with her Dawn and they had precious time together. Family, past and present were very important to her.

She is survived by two daughters, Paige Leeanne (William) Evans of Springville, New York, and Dawn Marie Hetrick of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Janice (Bruno) Barbessi of Canfield, Ohio and Marcella Petroff of Punxsutawney.  Numerous nieces and nephews, Mary Ann (Robert) Klacik, Anthony (Maureen) Barbessi, Brian Petroff, Margaret “Peggy” (Eric) Johnson, Patricia (Steve) Kingston, Gregory (Nicole) Hetrick, M. Noel (Chris) Hetrick, Steven Mclaughlin, Joan Yaselsky, Jaye Moyer, and Scott Skurapa.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one son, Robert George Hetrick; an infant brother, Richard Charcalla, two nephews, Michael and Todd Hetrick and brother in-law, Robert Petroff, nephew, Jeffrey Mclaughlin

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 265 Falconer Street, North Tonawanda, New York and from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday,  June 01, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m . on  Monday,  June 2, 2025, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.

Interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.
