James Robert Smouse, Jr

James Robert Smouse, Jr., of Buffalo, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Erie County Medical Center in New York.

He was born in Punxsutawney on May 22, 1950, a son of the late James Robert Smouse, Sr. and Mary Martha (Pearce) Smouse.

James was a loving and kind man, he never uttered a bad word about anyone.  He had a magnetic personality, he told great jokes and loved to laugh. 

His faith was strong throughout his life, and he loved the Lord.  He had compassion and often went out of his way to comfort others.

He is survived by one sister, Carrie Johnson of Bradford and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Eric Smouse and four sisters, Linda Secco, Debra Smouse, Teresa Schroger and Alicia Dean.

Friends will be received from 11 until 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Doug Wolfe.

Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery.
