James Knox Obituary

James Lee Knox, 68, of Punxsutawney, passed away at home on August 31, 2023.

He was born at Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, North Carolina on August 21, 1955, a son of Freda (Fryer) Knox-Foster of Punxsutawney and the late Shelby Knox.

On June 24, 1995, he married Jacalyn “Jackie” Dee Kendall.  She survives and resides in Punxsutawney.

Jim worked as an electrician in the compressor department for Peoples Gas, formerly known as TW Phillips Gas, for over twenty years.

He had a mechanical knack for working on all types of motors, including tractors, generators, and antique cars.  He was able to fix just about anything for people and he loved doing it.  Tinkering was his specialty.  The Coolspring Power Museum was an annual event that he looked forward to each year, the motors and antiques fascinated him.  Jim collected antique cars and enjoyed going to car shows to talk to others about motors and antiques.  He was also an Amateur Radio “Ham Radio” operator and had his own repeater station. Mr. Knox was also a Free Mason.

In addition to Jackie, he is survived by five children, Michael Knox, Johnny Knox, James Knox, Jr, Jack Heberling and Lacey Laney, and Joseph Heberling and wife Nicole.

Preceded in death by his father, Shelby Knox and one son, David Knox.
