Obituary
James (Jim) Francis Hritz, 76, of Punxsutawney, passed away on April 30th, 2023, after a long illness.
Jim was born on December 6th, 1946, to Michael and Faye Hritz in Punxsutawney. After graduating from Punxsutawney High School in 1964, he studied Economics at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1968, then enlisted in the United States Army and became fluent in Vietnamese. After his tour in the Army he started his career in finance, first working at United Penn Bank in Wilkes-Barre before moving to Lake Jackson, Texas, where he worked as a Finance Director for various auto dealerships. He retired early from his career in 2006, and moved back to Punxsutawney.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Tom Hritz of Pittsburgh and Bill Hritz of Oil City. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Hritz of Austin, Texas; his son, Jim Hritz, and daughter-in-law, Rachel Hritz, of New York; his grandson, Gus Hritz-Jones, of Austin, Texas; his sister, Mary Angela Hritz, of Punxsutawney; and two nephews, Patrick Hritz of Erie and Michael Hritz of Silver Springs Maryland, along with his wife, Pam.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, May 5th, 2023 at 11 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville, with Father William Laska as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Punxsutawney.
