James Wayne Buck, 72, of Punxsutawney, passed away October 28, 2023 at the Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
He was born on October 28, 1951 in Punxsutawney the son of the late Guy A. Buck Sr. and Betty E. (Hoeh) Buck. On May 5, 1997, he married Tammy (Shields) Buck, who survives.
James worked as a laborer at various trucking companies in the area. He could be found working on cars, trucks and other equipment – wrenching on them, doing bodywork/painting and he was an especially talented welder.
He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and working with his hands. You could often find him pulling some type of shenanigans on his Kubota tractor. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino and camping in the summer months with his wife Tammy. James loved his family and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them.
James is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Buck of Punxsutawney; five children: Melinda Wolfe (Bill) of Anita, Jami Wood (Dale) of DuBois, Jessica Altemus (Barry) of DuBois, Jada Shields of Punxsutawney, James L. Buck of Punxsutawney; seven grandchildren: Lauren Wolfe and fiancé Cody Weimer, Ryan Wood and wife Brittany, Devyn Arble, Rylie Altemus, Jadyn Altemus, Jordyn Altemus and Ayden Shields; six great grandchildren: Brandie, Adison, Jensen, Aiden, Eliza and Rayden; a brother, Guy A. Buck Jr. and wife Omajean of Big Run; three sisters: Judy DeGroff and husband Ray of Florida, Jeanne Herman of New York, Lori Enterline and husband Michael of Dayton; and his beloved dogs: Brute, Indy and Zoey.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his grandparents Kenneth and Grace Buck, son Shylo Buck, granddaughter Megan Wood, sister Wendy Barger, and his precious dog Hoochi.
A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. in Punxsutawney.
