Jacquelyn Anne Porada, 72, of Punxsutawney, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born in DuBois on August 08, 1952, the daughter of Samuel Lewis Mennetti and Florrine Mae (Brown) Mennetti.
Jackie was a 1970 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.
She was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church.
On July 17, 1976, she married her life partner, Lawrence Kevin Porada. The two were inseparable and did everything together. She and Larry were the proprietors of Porada’s Sports Club and Porada’s Karate School. Jackie was the secretary of the business and karate school, she loved seeing all the people and kids over the many years. She was excited to see all the new kids learning skills and achieving their goals and new belts. She also served on the Board of Elections in Young Township.
Jackie was the rock of her family, a steady and unwavering quiet presence. She was the one everyone turned to for comfort, advice and unconditional love. Her selflessness knew no bounds, she always put the needs of others before her own, never seeking recognition or praise. She was a humble woman and wore a gentle smile.
Jackie believed that food had a way of bringing people closer, she enjoyed cooking and hosting Karate parties, huge family gatherings for holidays and celebrations.
In addition to her husband Larry, she is survived by three children, Renee Porada Slusser of Anita, Michael (Kosie) Porada of Seward, and Kevin (Dawn) Porada of Falls Creek; five grandchildren, Brady and Chloe Slusser, Avery and Amron Porada and Kaitlyn Puhala; one brother, Michael (Karen) Mennetti of Anita; cousins, Gina Royer, Wendy Miles, Cindy Sutter, Lori Mottern and Denise Kiefer and their families; nieces and nephew, Chrissy Clark, Frances Clark, Chris “Critter” Porada, Jeannie Porada and Lynn Porada, great nieces and nephew, Lucas & Zoe Yingling, Rachael and Autumn Porada and Audrey Johnson. The extended family, the Martino’s and Jones families.
Preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in-laws, Michael and Anna Porada; sister in-law, Rita (Porada) Clark and her husband Bill; brother in-laws, Jack Porada, Michael Porada and his wife Lynn.
Friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Saints Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
