Isidro Sanchez Obituary

Isidro Sanchez, 87 of Punxsutawney, died peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at home with his family.

He was born on May 15, 1931 in Gila, New Mexico, the son of Ramona Sanchez.

Mr. Sanchez was a United States Air Force Veteran.  He proudly served his country for over twenty years and always enjoyed traveling and seeing the world during his enlistment.

Food service was his passion in life, he once owned a Sushi Bar in Tucson, Arizona.

The Chicago Cubs lost their number one fan when Isidro passed away.  He loved baseball and is quoted to say that he was blessed to see “My Chicago Cubs” win the pennant.

He loved animals, all animals and he particularly enjoyed raising homing pigeons.

He is survived by his life companion of over 48 years, Michiko Street, one daughter, Kathy Blanset and husband Bill of Punxsutawney, one son, Tom Tebbe; three grandchildren, Billy, Kiyomi and Kiarra; two great grandchildren, Raiden and Ronin; one sister, Josie Sanchez.

Isidro left this world with the people that meant everything to him and was able to say good-bye to those who were not able to be here.  He stated that “he has no regrets and he lived a full abundant life.”  His favorite tune that he would often sing was “Though we’re apart You’re part of me still, for you were my thrill on Blueberry Hill.”

There will be no visitation.  Arrangements entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Sanchez’s memory to a local animal shelter.
